Conjunction atau kata penghubung adalah kata yang menghubungkan kata dengan kata (word to word), frase dengan frase (phrase to phrase) atau kalimat dengan kalimat (clause to clause).
Kinds of Conjunction/Jenis-jenis kata penghubung.
1. Because (Karena,sebab)
Contoh :
- I don’t like him because he is nit friendly.
(Saya tidak suka kepada dia karena dia tidak ramah)
2. So (jadi, karena itu, sehingga, maka)
Contoh :
- She is very kind so everybody likes her.
(Dia sangat baik sehingga setiap orang menyukainya)
3. But (tetapi)
Contoh :
- John is interested in geography but Lennon isn’t.
(John tertarik pada pelajaran geografi tetapi Lennon tidak)
4. Although/Eventhough (meskipun/walaupun)
Contoh :
- Although the snake is small, it is poisonous.
(Walaupun ular itu kecil, itu berbisa)
5. And (dan)
Contoh :
- They are hungry and thirsty.
(Mereka lapar dan haus)
6. Or (atau)
Contoh :
- You go with me or stay here alone?
(Kamu pergi dengan saya atau tinggal disini sendirian)
7. When/while (ketika)
Contoh :
- She was crying when i opened the door.
(Dia sedang menangis ketika saya membuka pintu)
8. Before (sebelum)
Contoh :
- He had studied mathematics before he slept.
(Dia telah belajar matematika sebelum dia tidur)
9. After (sesudah)
Contoh :
- I have breakfast after I take a bath.
(saya telah sarapan sesudah saya mandi)
10. Since (sejak)
Contoh :
- She has been cooking since 7 o’clock.
(Dia sudah memasak sejak jam tujuh tepat)
11. For (Selama)
Contoh :
- We have been doing this task for 3 hours.
(Mereka sudah mengerjakan tugas ini selama 3 jam)
12. Until (Sampai)
Contoh :
- I will wait for him until he comes.
(Aku akan menunggu dia sampai datang)
